2002 Cabernet Sauvignon

This Super Premium Cabernet is 100% Cabernet. It is produced from fruit grown in Murphy Creek Vineyards 'Rebecca' Vineyard Block. The fruit was hand harvested in late 2002 by winemaker Bill Race and his wife Rebecca, crushed and held in neutral old French and American Oak barrels for 4-years before bottling. The 100% Cabernet is unusual in that most Bordeaux Varietals, like Cabernet are usually blended with another fruit to give it better balance, color or acidity. This fruit has those elements inherent, an unusual wine with outstanding flavor! The Rebecca Vineyard is located at Murphy Creek Vineyards, on a slightly east facing slope at an elevation of approximately 650' (~300M). 2002 was an excellent crop year with lots of sun, cool nights from the San Francisco Bay cooling, and a warm gentle September with no rain. The wine is a deep purple, with dense aromas of ripe berries and plum. The boquet is one of a Classic Cabernet, with hints of chocolate and a mix of cedar. The palate feel is one of velvety smoothness, with a rich finish. The bottle will stand up well to a long 2-hour conversation without becoming unpleasantly bitter. This is a strong wine without being overbearing. It will complement your meals or enjoyment with friends. It is very much the style of wine we love. It is ready to be enjoyed now.
